I’ve Tried to Write

I’ve tried to write

Many times

Going back

To the empty

Word document

Wanting to

Spill my emotions

To have the screen

Fill with black

The black of words

The black of

My emotions

I’ve tried to write

But sadness overcomes

Grief a serrated edged

Stabbing knife

My heart

The recipient

I’ve tried to write

Words coming out

Unformed and worthless

Filled with emptiness

Void of sense

Blubbering about

The weight

Of my pain

I’ve tried to write

And will continue

To try

It’s the only way

I know

To truly allow

The bloodletting

Of my soul

To flow out

Rather than

Damming up

And dishonoring

The present grief
