I was told
He is yours
I took over
His care
I had already
Been doing a lot
But it was a
Step
To do more
To thrive
I knew
He needed
All I could give
Survive
And thrive
He did
Age 17
I step in
Fully again
This time
Very different
I am here
To support
To be a cheerleader
To help guide
Not to tell
What to do
Still being
A parent
But no longer
Needed
To make
Decisions
For him
I am sad
But also
Excited
For him
It’s time to
Step into
His future
He has the
Tools
And ability
To do this
Within his
God-given strength
