The Chinese principle
Not forcing
Allowing natural action
Alan Watts says,
“Acting in accordance
with the field of forces
in which you find yourself.”
My mind
Is captivating
This thought
Different from
The empty beliefs
Fashioned at
A young age
Built upon
A limiting foundation
Searching and finding
Some similarity
More than
A play
On words
One of Jesus’
Clearest and
Underdeveloped sayings,
“Become like
A child.”
To truly understand
How to live
Fall back
Into a place
Where fascination
Has a
Foothold within
Playfully embracing
The present
Allowing time
To stop
Within a moment
This moment
Turning 360
In every direction
Taking in
As much
As you can see
Last night
5-year-old Gia
Running into the room,
“I have a nose.”
Shouted out
With glee
My old
Adult mind
Would say,
“So what,
It’s just
A nose.”
My more present
Childlike personhood
Saying, “Wow,
The nose
Is an
Incredible thing.”
Think about it
For a second
Without a nose,
Without smell
We miss the
Delight found
In mouth watering
Scrumptious foods
In a lover’s
Intimate musk
In the understanding
That can come
With the simplest
Of smells
Let’s learn
To embrace
The world
The one
Around us
Truly being
Weird and wild
Living strange
Are we okay
Being strange
Being a stranger?
Allowing the unknown
To draw
Us out?
Not having
It figured out
Mapped out
Planned out
Embracing the
Child-like mind
Without even
Knowing it
Just being
In that energy
I have
Recently read
About ancient ships
2000-year-old
Sea-faring
Water plows
Discovering was
Found on the sea
Worlds expanding
Gliding upon
Her fluid motion
Different sized
Sailing vessels
Stepping into
The unknown
Facing fear and death
Man and nature connecting
Working together
Effortless movement
Using the wind
Shaping the
Discoveries found
In the unknown
Learning to
Not force
Movement forward
Rather to
Borrow upon
Her gracious gift
Imagining those
Water travelers
Sights seen
For the
First time
I’m learning
To not
Be aggressive
Or aggressively seek
The future
But yet
Not living
In non-action
Or passivity
Words
Rhythmic and alive
Writing themselves
My sea-flowing
Outer shell
Inviting them
To have
A voice
They often
Shaping me
Not me
Shaping them
A learned place
Mind meditating
As they
Pour out
Flowing into
My opening consciousness
I sit back
In awe
At what they
Are wanting
To say
Within me
Through me
Something I
Have been practicing
Starting 22
Years ago
Not knowing
I had been
Having to realize
I don’t know
What I really want
Until quiet
Then I hear
My ears
Learning to listen
To that
Still quiet voice
I’m reborn
Coming again
As a child
Allowing laughter
Surprise
Kindness
To flow openly
With the energy
Of nature Herself
